Black rice also called as Forbidden rice
'Black Rice' is more purplish in colour than black, although it is very dark when uncooked in appearance. This type of rice is usually sold 'unmilled, with the husk intact. Until recent times, Black Rice was not very popular. It had been highly preserved and protected in Asia for many centuries. It is used as a condiment, dressing, or decoration for different desserts in many countries worldwide. It has high nutritional value, and black rice is rich in iron and high in fibre.
